Congratulations you were called for interviews. But if you are nervous about the questions you will be asked in the job interview. Well , here are some common interview questions and how to answer them tactfully. Don’t attempt to memorize the answers but rather prepare and know how to answer them .
1. Tell me more about yourself ?
This question sounds very simple but most people end up answering it by talking about their family, their birth town, and personal details uncalled for . This question is an opportunity for you to pitch your self to the company by showing them why you are the right person for the job.
According to Lily Zhang a career expert, a good way to answer this question is by using the Present -Past- Future formula.
Start with the present—where you are right now. Then, talk about the past about the experiences you’ve had and the skills you gained at the previous position. Finally, finish with the future—why you are really excited for this particular opportunity.
2. Why should we hire you ?
Ladies and gentlemen this question is not an invitation to bash other people, but rather this question is meant to elicit an answer from you about your skills and accomplishments. Your answers should tell the interviewer why you can do the work, deliver results and that you are a great fit for the company.
3. Where do you see yourself in 5 years ?
This is question about your career and where you see yourself in the future. It’s also a question about where you see yourself with the company in future.
According to the Job-hunt ,a jobs and career website, interviewers are mainly looking for an answer to the following questions.
•Do you have a solid grasp of the position and what it entails?
•Do you have the right attitude?
•Are you going to be dependable?
•Are you a good cultural and social fit for the organization?
•How are you going to use your strengths to achieve success in this job?
4. What is your greatest strength ?
What your interviewer is trying to do here is to determine how well you are qualified for the position. When you are asked about your greatest strengths, it’s important to discuss the attributes that qualify you for that specific job, and that will set you apart from other candidates.
E.g ” as a social media specialist my greatest strength is my intellectual curiosity. I love to keep up with the new trends in social media marketing and digital copy writing so that the content I post is up to date with the latest trends and standards. I do this by reading magazines and following articles from experts within the industry.”
5. What is your greatest weakness ?
When answering this question be careful not to present yourself in bad light. What you should do is wrap your answers around the positive aspects of your skills and abilities as an employee. Here you can also talk about the skills you have improved.
